Right now my current hairstyle is a blowout but its a curly one, My hair is about 3.5-4 inches long the top, and 2-3 inches on the side before the taper. So instead of being straight up its just really curly all around. I have to thin my hair out and what else, so i can get the straight spiked up hair style without the curls. if possible.

I've cut my hair to a short style, but when it was longer I used Frizz-Ease on damp hair and then a diffuser for drying. A great diffuser that you can use on any dryer is the Hot Sock. It's great for drying curly hair and not causing a lot of frizz. Once dry, I used a touch of Bedhead manipulator to tame any flyaways. It seemed to work. I got lots of compliments on my curly hair. I'm assuming you mean you want a "natural" curly style, not "natural" products. If this is so, then I have personally used all three of these products with good results:

1. Bumble %26amp; Bumble Curl Creme - comes in 2 different varieties for different thicknesses of hair (You can also use their shampoo and conditioner from the same line)

2. Garnier Fructis Curl %26amp; Shine (Leave-in Conditioning Creme)

3. Frederic Fekkai Luscious Curls Cream

These are all products you apply to towel-dried hair.

I have also tried Phyto Curl Defining Spray, but I would NOT recommend it because the smell is horrendous and it didn't work that great.

Aveda also makes a product to style curly hair. It's called Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancing Lotion. I haven't tried it, but I usually like their products so it may be worth a try.

These are so cute, I would get you pics but I can't so...I'll just explain:

1) Cornrowed side ponytai

Rub a nickel-sized amount of shine serium onto you rhands and run your fingers through your hair while its wet. Use a wide-toothed comb to evenly distribute it throughout your hair. When your hair becomes curly again, try not to touch it as much as possible.

On your left side of your hair, begin a cornrow (a reverse French braid). If you don't know how, just braid it normally. Follow your hairline and keep braiding down the right side of your head (so it should go from your left side to your right side, up and over your head if you're doing a cornrow. If just a regular braid, just start on whatever side you want and just braid downwards - don't go up and over to the other side). Secure your braid with an elastic band. You can do two braids if you want, one right behind the other.

Once you've done that, gather your hair and brush it into a low ponytail (side ponytails look cuter). Secure your braid(s) with a clip (fancy or bobby pin, whichever looks best). Securing works for both cornrows or regular braids.

Hmmm honestly I think this question depends on a lot of factors...Such as your race (ethnic hair needs different things), the wheather, and the type of hair texture you have. There is lots and LOTS of different types of curly.... Also I think finding the perfect shampoo and conditioner is one of those things you gotta trial and error.... Stay away from Sodium Laureth(el) sulfate it makes lovely bubbles and foam but it drys your hair out quick as a flash. Also the "heaviness" of conditioners can impact how your hair "acts". Heavier conditioner uis good for the winter and lighter for the summer. and make sure you read the ingrediants label. Biotin, Vitamin E, and such are really good. Oh and you might want to think about the type of products you use "After" you wash. I like carrot oil and avocado/shea butter detangler in the summer, while the really thick shea butter and olive oil are best in the winter. It's all a matter of trail and error. Really.

haha i hav been telling ppl this all night about frizz, curly unmanagable hair cuz i hav the same problem...but i shall share with u too, okay im gunna give u an odd combo, but it works, ok use like any shampoo and conditioner that u want and then after u brush ur hair put in sunsilk 24/7 de-frizz creme and after u smooth that thro put in garneir frutis sleek and shine leave-in conditioner and brush ur hair one more time and put it up in a hair tie til its mostly dry and then take it out and run ur fingers thro it to style it then leave it alone to dry (DO NOT BLOW-DRY) and then ur hair should look good!

Hi there, I am only guessing that your hair is naturally curly,,, I do too, if so, see if this works.

After washing, before you do anything else use a good hair wax, (particularly when the weather is humid-FRIZZ?!!)after applying the hair wax (if you can get it, Palmer's soft wax is excellent! smells really good too.) Style it how you like,( with a good strong wax type of preparation, you should have no problems with nasty greasy, dull hair), then let it dry naturally.... It really is the best way, hair-dryers can be a little too drying=FRIZZ!!

Of course it depends on your present cut and if you are happy with it,,, I always have a job with mine as it is thick and,,, I guess you could say voluminous!!? The hairdressers go really silly with it and I usually have to leave them under cover of darkness, looking vaguely like Madge Simpson, slinking home to shove my head under the tap to make it live-able again!!

i have curly hair too and i straighten mine a lot but on some days ya just gotta go curly. what i do is: when your in the shower make sure your using shampoos and conditioners made especially for curly hair then when you get out of the shower when your hair is still wet, not dripping though, run a leave in conditioner in your hair i love garnier leave-in-conditioner. then brush your hair let dry for a couple of minutes then apply some moose for curly hair add some hair spray and scrunch, you can also use a diffuser to dry your hair.

I too have naturally curly hair and it took me the better part of 27 years to figure out what to do with it. In the shower I use a curl shampoo and conditioner to help fight frizz. After getting out of the shower, I wrap it in a towel while I do my makeup (15 Mins). Then I spray in leave in conditioner no waxes or gels they weigh hair down and make it look greasy. Next comes Mousse it is light and fluffy but helps to control the frizz. I use a diffuser to dry because letting it air dry usually leaves it flat. I have shorter bands that I "straighten" but love the layers I have in my hair. They give it added dimentions and depth. Then I just spritz with some hairspray and go. It sounds like a lot of work but it only takes me about 20 minutes.

i agree with the first answer i do that ALOT, another thing i do is put my hair up into a medium ponytail then twist it and secure it towards the of the ends of my hair with one of those big claw clips then you can arrange it at the top so you can see the tops of your curls...looks really cute, then if you want it to look more formal you can take a part of your bangs out of your ponytail and curl it so it's hanging down the side of your face...your hair will look great!

Here's my dilema. I have naturally curly hair. For the past year I have been blowing my hair straight and have recently wanted to start wearing it curly again. It has lost a little bit of its curly although I think this is temporary. In the past I have used products such as paul mitchel's styling foam and loved it but want to see if there is something more updated. I want my curls to be light and controlled not stick hard, and weighed down so I do not particularly like using gel. Any suggestions of products I can use to achieve my desired look?? In addition to this I am wanting my hair to grow as quickly and as healthy as possibly by next year. Are there any vitamins and/or products out there to help this??

I worked in a hair salon owned by two curly hair specialists. They always used ISO Tamer Foam in curly hair. It was like a mousse. You put it in your hair when it's wet and let it dry naturally. When it's dry you'll have your curls, they will be a little stiff, but the product is mainly designed for frizz so when your curls are all dry finger comb your hair and you will have soft natural curls. This product can also be used to help straighten your hair, put it in wet and then blow dry, and it helps keep the frizz away when it's straight.

You can find it in salons that specialize in curly hair and you can also find it in a beauty product distribution store. It's About $11, depending on where you go.

- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (read more about this at one of the websites) . Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair. Then let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Do not touch the hair while it is drying or it will frizz!

- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Aussie Moist Conditioner. The combo of products that I use daily is Garnier Fuctis Sleek and Shine Leave In Cream, LA Looks Sports Gel, and Aussie Tizz No Frizz Gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working.This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

My daughter has long wavy/curly hair that she ALWAYS pulls back into a ponytail, and refuses to have bangs. I think it makes her forehead look big, but don't want to tell her that and can't get her to change the style. I've suggested that she cut it short, but she says she likes the ponytail. She also has a lot of hair so we are always buying new ponytail holders to replace the broken ones.

You could have it cut into long layers so that it will be lighter and less hair to deal with. Have the stylist cut the shortest layer long enough to put up into a pony tail. She can straighten it, part it, scrunch it or do it half up. I use a product by Garnier Fructis called leave in cream conditioner curl and shine. I just put it in while my hair is still wet and let it dry on its own and thats about all I do to it. I do have bangs because I have a big forehead and some days I wish I didn't have them (I've grown them out but, either it dosen't look good or; I am not used to it). I do have to style them always I wish I could wear them sort of swooped over my forehead and and pinned down but my BANGS are too short.

i have really curly hair and up until a few years ago i would always tie it back. it wasn't until i was about 16 that i started wearing it out. there is no need to cut it short but just make sure that you put product in it and maybe add some layers so that the hair doesn't sit flat on top of the head. it's just a matter of time until she starts to wear it out. and if she still pulls it back try getting her to put her part on the side (not in the middle) it helps for the forehead thing

I would suggest that you get her to trim 2-3 inches off initially, and perhaps have it thinned a little so her hair is less thick where the ponytail band is at. Not only will it take some of the weight off her head, is good for her hair, and makes it look neater, it will also help with breaking of the hair ties less because her ponytail will have less girth.

Sounds as if your daughter has her mind made up, so you will have to have her hair trimmed frequently. Be glad she keeps it in a pony tail instead of wildly unkept (I have a niece that did that forever....and it looked REALLY bad!). Eventually she may become a little more receptive, but for now you will have to satisfy yourself with getting her hair trimmed regularly. Once she gets used to the trims and how nice her head feels with a little less weight, she wont be so unreceptive to getting her hair cut later.

I think taking small steps with her in this case is really the way to go, so she has time to get used to having her hair a little shorter just from a simple trim.

It takes a lot of work. But I have really curly hair and first I have to straighten in with a round brush and a blow dryer. Then once it's dry it will still be a little frizzy so I flat iron it.

My hair is very curly, but I make my curls soft with Biolage. I use their shampoo and conditioner. It's pretty expensive [like 15-20 bucks a bottle], and when I rinse my hair, I don't rinse it very well. Leave some conditioner in it. Don't blow dry it. If you do, put some gel or styling mousse in it. When you wake up in the morning it's going to look perfect. Just touch it up with your wet palms. Good luck!

Perfecting the Curl

If you're letting your hair dry naturally, try this: Apply gel or leave-in conditioner to towel dried hair and create curls by twisting locks of hair around your fingers or by scrunching your hair. Or twist sections and clip them up with butterfly clips. Once dry, take them down. Loosen the curls with your fingers.

Wash your hair at night, apply gel or mousse and braid it. The next morning, open out your braids and finger comb your hair for lovely, natural curls.

Fed up with hair that zooms out at the sides as if you've been electrocuted? Pull your hair taut and secure it into a ponytail when it's drying. This way your hair will tend to fall down instead of spreading out.

I am 13. I have extremley curly hair. It is thick and it comes down a little past my shoulders. I use shampoo and conditioner every day. I usually use gel but my parents are telling me that I am using to much gel but that is the only thing that seems to work. I have hair like yours. I use this thing made by Garneir Frutis and it is called sleek and shine anti humidity smoothing milk {it helps with frizz and it makes you hair shine}, and then after I put that on, I put a little bit of moose on. It takes away the frizz, and makes the curls look better. Good luck!!

I also have curly hair, and I love it. It took me a long time to figure out how to deal with it, but now it's great. Here's what I learned:

1) Wash and CONDITION. Your shampoo and conditioner should preferably be an anti-frizz or hydrating formula.

2) Use leave-in conditioner then dry with a diffuser. You shouldn't need any other products that weigh down the curls if you use a good leave-in conditioner.

Now, you asked about styles. Here's a few...

1) Do a side part, then pin some flowers in your hair. (Your) Left side means you're taken, right side means you're single.

2) Starting at the front, loosely twist the curls into a sort of fish braid, one on each side. You can take the two sides and go all the way down to make pigtails, or you can only go halfway and pin the ends to the back of your head.

3) After your curls are all dry, pull them all, except a few to frame your face, to the back of your head, about halfway down. Twist it a tiny bit and make a sort of flippy bun. You can stick some hair sticks of pencils in there to accent it if you wish.

I have EXTREMELY curly hair and I can put it in any style. Here's the trick: go get yourself some frizz ease. I use the pump. Put it on towel dried hair. Then, using a round brush, blow dry your hair. I find that with my thick hair I have to section my hair off while drying it. That helps control the frizz too. As long as you do all of that you should be good to go. Hope that helps!

You could try pinning some curls back with bobby pins. You could also try wearing your hair up in a loose summery pony-tail and have some loose ends hanging down. Just leaving your hair down should be beautiful too! Experiment :)

This permanently straightens your hair but it does not damage you hair like a straight perm does. After i got it done, i realized that is was the best thing that's ever happened to me. Brushing it will just make it frizzier. When you get out of the shower put a product like "curls up" in your hair, scrunch it and let it air dry. Or do a "poof" on top of your head. Just blow dry the section that you want to do a poof with ( in the direction you want your hair to go!) and use a lot of hair spray to give it volume. then let the rest of your hair just fall around it. This can be a casual or glamorous look.

ohhhh thats quite easy iha.jaz look on the direction.but mostly,try to apply in your hair with frequent brushing or combing it.do it for at least 30 mins to 1 hour.then use conditioner when you take a bath.

Blow Dry your hair with a round brush and keep it straight =) Afterwards, straighten your hair and put some straightening cream and some hairspray if you want to keep it in a certain hairdo in your hair. =) that should help a lot

Are you trying to maintain your curly hair? If so try using a produc that advertises loose curls. They will help your hair still be naturally curly but more manageable. If you are trying to straigten your hair and it will not come out how you want, try a styling gel that is made for straight hair. Therefore, it will hold better.

I also have naturally curly hair. My beautician thins it out with a razor comb. It keeps your hair from being as thick and heavy. With less weight your curls will be more defined. Also have long layers cut in your hair, your curls will rock!

I have naturally curly hair...I straighten it with a flat iron thencurl the ends, you can buy sheen which will make your hair less frizzy and more shinny. I get compliments on my curls all the time (I perfer straight) but I use only Fruit Ganier products (smells nice) they have soothing milk I apply when my hair is very wet...I wait about 10 minutes then apply curl construction moose (locks the curls) and stiff gel (tames and weights down the frizz). My hair is naturally curly too, and after I take a shower I towl dry it and them scrunch it just with my hands, and then I put Fudge (a type of hair product. Its like Black %26amp; White.) on my hands and scrunch again and then just let it dry.

Use a leave in conditioner for curly hair. Spritz your hair then run your fingers through...it will hold your style and tone down the frizzies. A medium strength hairspray will help too. Not much else can be done. You just have to learn how to love the hair ya have!

I'd recomend getting hairstyle products for curly hair this way it will be easier to style your hair. You can find various products at any local drug store Fructis has a good selection for curly/wavy hair products that don't break the bank!

One style you can do is if your able to is ringlets with damp hair put some mouse in your hair use a wide tooth comb (great for curly or wavy hair) then take a section of hair and twist to form ringlets and blow dry with a diffuser.

Another thing you can do is just use hair gel and "scrunch" your curls and let it air dry.

same problem i have. when it's wet, comb it smooth, and pull it back in a mid ponytail, and then make a bun. Pull out loose curls and let them hang. Put cute clips in the back of your hair, say glittery bobby pins to hold the bun. Spray with a good hairspray, like Herbal Essences or Tresseme, but any spray works, as long as it's aersol FREE. enjoy your hair!

What are some styles that I can do with nat. curly hair that would look what people call "emo" and Jrock-ish?

My hair is about an inch or two past my shoulders, I have no bangs (basically. my hair has a break in the middle "rock in a waterfall' as my mother called it). The curls are small and semi-tight and there is quite a lot of them...

Actually, just straightening your bangs with curly hair is the norm for bangs. If you're worried about them looking funny, straighten them as much as you can so that they are as long as possible, and sweep them off to the side--they will still cover your forehead, but blend in to your hair a bit more.

I have naturally wavy hair, and it's really pretty, except for that my bangs flip out and just do not look good. I straighten them (not on really high heat) and leave the rest wavy. Also applying curling mousse (pantene pro-v style curl defining scrunching mousse, 4$ at drugstores) enhances your curls, and if you have a few more minutes to spare, you can perfect them with a thin curling iron.

It can look really nice to straighten your bangs with your hair curled. I do that, and it looks fine and not unnatural at all. A good way to make it blend well is to sweep the bangs off to one side after straightening them. Another, if your bangs aren't long enough to sweep over, is to use the flatiron or a really wide curling iron to give your bangs a slight curl but with an overall smooth texture. This can look really good as well.
