Styling help for my curly hair!!?

I always use Garnier Fructis Hard Curl gel, I love the way it looks, but for some reason when i scrunch my hair all the pretty curls end up under my hair not on the top! There are these pieces that look like a curl that's been smashed and is flat. Am I using too much product? I use alot, maybe the size 2 quarters. PLEASE HELPPPP!

gel doesnt work, i would reccomend using any brand of mousse, i use suave brand and it works great and makes my curls to be never flat, but look really round and pretty and bouncy and springy

you are using too much product so when you put like a quarter size in your hair right after blow dry your hair with a diffuser on it it will make your hair curly instead of limp blow dry it until its at least half way dry unless you want your hair completely dry thats ok too. best of luck:)

wow i use soooo much more gel then that! lol but i buy a cheap brand i use like at least two handfuls! I know that seems like alot but without it I'd have a fro so its worth it. Try Suave just for men gel its awesome!

There is a possibility it could be too much product and your scrunching the top too much. and is your hair curly after it is wet because if so the problem could be your scrunching the curls too much and it is causing the already curled hair to uncurl.
